Digital radiography is generally divided into two main areas as:
1-Digital CR (Computerized Radiography)
2-Digital DR (Direct Radiography)
There are two subdivisions for Digital DR Technology:
A) DR, CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) Sensor
B) DR, Flat Panel Sensor
All x-ray systems can be upgraded to Digital CR. With CR systems, a ‘Scanner’ replaces the need for an x-ray film processor so a darkroom is no longer required.
Chiropractic Systems: It requires a new Wall Stand for the detector and more space.
Veterinary Systems: It requires enough space inside the table for the detector to be installed. In some cases the table must be replaced or modified to accommodate the detector mechanism.
Medical Systems & X-Ray Labratories: It requires new Wall Stand and enough space inside the table or the table must be replaced.
Technically a 'Flat Panel Plate' sensor replaces the bucky or grid cabinet with your cassette-tray. No special modification is required. The simplest and the most expensive retro-fit option.
NOTE: Please keep in mind that all the above described systems are in addition to the basic X-Ray system.
